We headed south, back towards Yarmouth with Truro our goal for the night. Once again, we were on the windy, narrow two-lane “highways”. Some local drivers were taking their sweet time, increasing our travel time, of course, but we enjoyed the scenery. One rule we have while traveling is that anyone can holler “stop” if they spot something interesting. We stopped in one village where we had noticed a sign for a kilt shop. Perhaps YOU knew that real kilts are expensive, but I was surprised at the $300and up price tags! We then crossed the causeway and left Cape Breton behind.
We had eaten that “No lunch breakfast” at the B&B in Louisburg that morning and fully expected to enjoy a late lunch at Sugar Moon Farm. We had to get there by 5pm and managed, with the help of the Garmin taking us via some really back roads (well, at least we got to see a red fox dash across.), to got there just before 4:30. While the owner explained the sugaring process at the maple farm, her staff was preparing our blueberry pancakes.
We then headed on to the B&B. Trusting the Garmin once again, we had a bit of trouble since it did not recognize the street address. The B&B website provided the GPS coordinates, so we plugged those in and had a great laugh when we “arrived.” One more funny story about a GPS, a wonderful tool, not being 100% trustworthy. Fortunately, the correct road was the next cross street and the B&B was actually within a quarter mile.
This B&B was run by a Dutch couple. They were very friendly and told us how to get to the viewpoint to see the Bay of Fundy tidal bore come up the river. We went over there, watched the sun set and then had a late light supper. (yes, seafood.)
